Our hearts and thoughts are with you during this time of grieving. Please know that you are not alone in remembering a truly wonderful person. Mr. Gaia will always hold a special place in the hearts of my family.

He was teacher to my brothers, sister and me. He was my mother's principal when she taught at Leavitt. In the late 60's, Mr. Gaia was resposible for saving my youngest brother's life. Mr Gaia resuscitated him after he had fallen from the monkey bars, unconscious and not breathing.

We hope your family will find comfort in the knowledge that Pat's kindness, compassion and spirit will live on through all who knew him.

Just want to let the family of Pat know how much he impacted the youth he came in contact with. My own impression of Pat was that he was always so cheerful and uplifting. My daughter, Katie posted this on Facebook concerning him: He will be missed dearly! He was always in a good mood and always encouraging us kids. I'll never forget the pin he made me with a katydid on it, because that is what he called me. I'll also never forget when he came in and made pizza with us. You were a great man, Mr. Gaia and we all have fond memories of you. Rest in peace, love Katydid

Pat was my principal at LaBrae school whilebin elementary school, he helped me through the loss of my grandfather. This showed me the compassion he had for every student. My condolences to the family, a good nan has been called home.

Mrs. Gaia and family, I had Mr. Gaia for a gym teacher many years ago. He was also the principal of Leavitt Elementary when my sons were there. He was always about the kids. He left a legacy with all the students that he came in contact with. My condolences, Brenda Krol

Here was an awesome principal while he was at leavitt elementary. He was very kind to me and my family. Always gave good advice and knew the right moments to be stern. Rest in peace Mr. Gaia, I'm so sorry to read this. He was a great principal at Leavitt. I remember when me and a boy got into a fight, he made us write an essay to explain why we shouldn't fight and why we should be friends instead of suspending us, I remember him coming to our 5th grade classroom and teaching us how to make hamburger in aluminum foil. In my memory he always smiled, always listened to us and when he came to the classroom everyone was excited to see him. He treated my parents with such respect, I remember watching him talk to my parents. God bless his family in this tough time.

Extending our heartfelt condolences to Mary Ann, Tracie, Ken, Gemma, Justin and all of Pat's family and friends. Our family has fond memories of Pat and his visits to Atlanta and we cherish the memories we have with him and Mary Ann. Pat touched all of us and leaves behind a great legacy in his children and grandchildren – a family that he was very proud and supportive of. Pat was a great chef and a very knowledgeable sportsman and our family loved both Pat’s cooking and watching/discussing sports with him. It is with heavy hearts we say good-bye to Pat, but his memory will always bring a warm smile to our family and hold a special place in our heart.
